"Near this site on 14 April 1968, North Korean Soldiers ambushed a United Nations Command truck and killed two UN and two ROK soldiers. The ambush was extremely violent. After stopping the truck with grenades, the North Koreans executed the survivors. These four men gave their lives to keep the Republic of Korea free and democratic. They will forever be In Front of Them All.

Leroy R. Jacks, Jr. (68) was also in the truck, but he was wounded and played dead while the North Koreans stole his pistol.

John Sharpeta was also wounded. He passed out and was mistaken for dead. Thankfully, he too survived.
